  • Antique Poetry – Bell’s Edition: The Poets of Great Britain Vol. 1 – London 1777 – 0000096

    Antique Poetry – Bell’s Edition: The Poets of Great Britain Vol. 1 – London 1777 – 0000096

This very rare and collectable edition of Bell’s Edition: Poets of Great Britain – From Chaucer to Churchill, is Volume 1 of 109 printed by John Bell’s The Strand London 1777! The condition is not excellent and the front and back covers have come away from the spine. However, all the pages seem to be there (I haven’t gone through it in detail as I did not want to damage it!) The leather covers still show gold detailing and around the edges.
In my opinion, the condition is good (internally, at least) but it is a 200 year old book! A very rare first edition and a very collectable piece of history!
    Measures 1.5 x 8.5 x 13cm

Rare & Antique Circa 1892 Copeland (Spode) Ceramic Autumn Leaf Dish – 0000403

This stunning late Victorian ceramic autumn leaf dish was made in 1892 by the famous Staffordshire pottery works of William Copeland (Spode).  In the style of a large autumn coloured leaf, this dish beautifully crafted and hand-painted in an array of warm colours from pink, yellow, orange through to brown.

In excellent condition with no cracks or chips, just a minor restoration to the underside of the tip of the leaf.  Hardly noticeable and looks like it was done many years ago.  There some scratches to the hand-painted surface to expected of a dish that is nearly 120 years old.  Clearly marked with an incised Copeland stamp and the incised number 92 denoting the year of production.  This is an unusual and very rare large dish measuring approximately 40cm long by 10.5cm at the widest point and is a beautiful antique that would look amazing on display!
