    Antique Rare Victorian 1878 – 1890 – Wedgwood Floral Saucer / Small Dish – 0000345

This beautiful antique Victorian Wedgwood floral saucer or small dish was made circa 1878 to 1890.  In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration work (a couple of factory transfer errors).

Marked with an impressed Wedgwood stamp, the Wedgwood Portland Vase backstamp without the three stars and without the word “England”, which was added to the mark in 1890 to conform with the USA’s McKinley Tariff Act and thus dating this dish to within 12 years from when it was made.  Measures approximately 14cm in diameter.

A lovely dish that is quite rare (I haven’t seen one like this), very presentable and highly collectable!

  • Antique Book – 1st Edition – 1902 King Edward’s Realm – Story of the Making of the Empire – Rev. C.S Dawe – 0000454

    Antique Book – 1st Edition – 1902 King Edward’s Realm – Story of the Making of the Empire – Rev. C.S Dawe – 0000454

A lovely little hard back book entitled “King Edward’s Realm,Story of the Making of the Empire”, was written circa 1902 by Rev C.S. Dawe (who also wrote “Queen Victoria and Her People”), and was published by The Educational Supply Association Ltd.  This is a first edition and first printing.

This book has a front page insert and inscription stating: “Presented to Dorothy L Day” in June 1907 ”by the Sutton Coronation Committee”.

This lovely little book is full of historical information on King Edward VII’s reign and includes some great photographs including a great picture of King Edward himself, with a print of his signature below. Superb!

The condition is good overall (bearing in mind age) and has been used, with some staining internally, with foxing to many pages.  The spin is not perfect.  In and amongst the pages are a few flower/leaf pressings that were possibly put in there by Dorothy Day. A sweet addition.

If you love antique books and commemorative history, this is a nice little addition to your collection.

I do have two of these.  The second is inscribed to Lily Day and is in more or less the same condition (a brighter red outer cover).  Just let me know if you want more photos or just add two to your cart and get both for £11.00 and still get FREE DELIVERY!

  • Antique 130 Year Old Moroccan Solid Bronze Coin – 4 Falus – 1289 A.H. / 1872 A.D.– 0000485

    Antique 130 Year Old Moroccan Solid Bronze Coin – 4 Falus – 1289 A.H. / 1872 A.D.– 0000485

Another fantastic antique solid bronze coin that is over 130 years old and is in very good condition! Weighing approximately 11.0g (making this a genuine bronze minted coin and not a later contemporary forgery) with the “Seal of Suyalman” (similar to the star of David) and the Islamic calendar date of 1289 on the reverse.  The Islamic calendar is approximately 620 years behind the Christian or Roman calendar and thus dates this coin to the reign of Sidi Mohammed IV, AH1276-1290 (1859-73).

Measures approximately 28mm in diameter and 1mm in depth.

In very good/fine condition with clear markings and a very collectable coin, found in museums and serious private collections!

  • Rare Art Nouveau Circa 1890 – 1910 Black and White “Kateroo” Cat Vase – 0000484

Rare Art Nouveau Circa 1890 – 1910 Black and White “Kateroo” Cat Vase – 0000484

This very unusual and rare styled cat vase is strikingly similar to a character cat designed and created by David Henry Souter in 1907 for Royal Doulton.  “Kateroo” was comical cat who appeared on plates and other wares such as candlesticks and as a striking standing model.  All of which are very rare and hard to find.  This piece, although not marked with the Doulton mark underneath, is marked with the words Cheshire Cat incised on the base.

Beautifully hand-painted in black white and red and very unusual with its pointy lower jaw and pointed swept-back ears.

A truly uniquely styled cat, which can only be attributed to Mr Souter unique design, but as its not marked with the Royal Doulton backstamp, it is unclear who made it.  I have not seen another like it!

This lovely vase is free from any cracks or chips but does appear (on very close inspection) to have been repaired at the top and bottom of the handle at some point.  You would never notice unless you looked really hard.  Please see photos.

Standing at a majestic 22cm tall (to the tips of his ears – approx) and with a beautifully curled tail for a handle, this “Kateroo” styled vase would make a great addition to any Art Nouveau or cat collection.  Give him a home!
