  • Art Deco c.1948 Bulpitt & Sons Ltd – Swan Mayfair CH480 “Moderne” Electric Chrome Coffee Percolator – 0000202

Art Deco c.1948 Bulpitt & Sons Ltd – Swan Mayfair CH480 “Moderne” Electric Chrome Coffee Percolator – 0000202

This gorgeous art deco electric coffee percolator is made from chrome plated copper and detailed with a black phenol plastic handle and knob with a “Pyrex” viewing window at the top.  Made by Bulpitt & Sons Limited who were the pioneers of the electric kettle element, which was invented in the 1920′s and the revolution in tea and coffee making and drinking.  Bulpitt & Sons Ltd were also the creators of “Swan Brand” which was one of the must-have item in every kitchen from the 1920′s until the present day.

This fabulous Coffee Percolator, named the “Moderne” with its classic art deco looks and officially known as the “Swan Mayfair – Model CH480″, was made circa 1948 (which was at the tail-end of the art deco design movement).  A quite advanced model in its day with a manual on/off cut-off switch to the front.

This beautifully designed coffee percolator is in excellent condition, with some fine scratches here and there, but no real damage or denting to the surface (maybe a couple of tiny pin-holes but nothing noticeable).  It is untested as it is missing its electric cable, which is easily obtainable, but appears quite clean (could do with a wash inside if used again).

A lovely display piece for the lover of vintage kitchenalia and a great example of tea/coffee making history.
