1937 Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at Westminster Abbey Commemorative Medallions – 0000468
Description
A great piece for the collector and quite rare, this pair of commemorative medallions commemorate the coronation of King George VI. King George, (who was previously known as Albert) became king after his elder brother the Edward VIII abdicated after a very short period on the throne, to marry the socialite Wallis Simpson. King George VI has been recently (in 2010) been portrayed as the stuttering king in the awarding winning film “The King's Speech”.
This very collectable pair of medallions are made of a soft white metal. On one side, both King George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother are in portrayed in profile and on the reverse, the words “To commemorate the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at Westminster Abbey, 1937”. The words “British Made” are in small script at the top.
In good condition with some dings to the edges, these are a lovely set of collectable medallions and memorabilia for King George VI who was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 1936 to 1952.
