  • The Book Club – 1956 – Ian Fleming’s 007 From Russia With Love – 0000109

    The Book Club – 1956 – Ian Fleming’s 007 From Russia With Love – 0000109

This Book Club edition of Ian Fleming’s From Russia with Love is his fifth instalment in the globally successful 007 James Bond series of stories.  Arguably his best work and the Book Club edition is the first printing (not publishing) of this fantastic book.  The Cape (publishers of the book) rejected the first print for quality reasons in 1956 and sent them to the Book Club.  Then in 1957 the book was officially published. Originally, 15,000 sets were printed and ended up in the Book Club. Somehow the 1957 editions are worth thousands, whilst the “true” first prints have a lesser but very collectable value.

Condition is fair although the dust jacket is missing (often the case with Book Club editions but internally the pages are unmarked – A good collectable book with an interesting story behind it.

  • Antique Poetry – Bell’s Edition: The Poets of Great Britain Vol. 1 – London 1777 – 0000096

    Antique Poetry – Bell’s Edition: The Poets of Great Britain Vol. 1 – London 1777 – 0000096

This very rare and collectable edition of Bell’s Edition: Poets of Great Britain – From Chaucer to Churchill, is Volume 1 of 109 printed by John Bell’s The Strand London 1777! The condition is not excellent and the front and back covers have come away from the spine. However, all the pages seem to be there (I haven’t gone through it in detail as I did not want to damage it!) The leather covers still show gold detailing and around the edges.
In my opinion, the condition is good (internally, at least) but it is a 200 year old book! A very rare first edition and a very collectable piece of history!
    Measures 1.5 x 8.5 x 13cm
