This superb and very collectable early Susie Cooper designed preserve pot is in absolutely excellent condition for its age. Dating from circa 1928 this lovely pot is hand-painted in the very sought after “Cubist” pattern and is totally free from any chips, cracks or restoration work. There is some age related crazing both inside and out, but is only stained slightly on the inside. The hand-painted pattern is in excellent condition with only minor flakes missing in a couple of places. Please see photos. I believe that this would once have had a lid, but preserve pots in this design are rare and even rarer with an intact lid. Measures approximately 7.5cm high by 8cm at widest point.
Clearly marked with the H2 Second Galleon mark and the words “A.E. Gray & Co. Hanley England”, the pattern number of 8071 (paintress mark underneath) and the “Grimwades” white ware underglaze stamp.

This beautiful pair of lustre ware bowls date from between 1921 and 1928 are made by Gray’s Pottery in Hanley. The geometric fruit and leaves pattern is delicately and skilfully hand-painted in rich autumn colours with an iridescent lustre finish. Made during the period at which Susie Cooper was at Gray’s and quite possibly influenced by Ms Coopers fantastic eye for design, these two matching bowls are in excellent condition and totally free from any, crazing, chips, cracks or restoration work. There is some very minor wear to the finish and hand-painted work commensurate with age. Clearly marked with the second galleon mark, the pattern number 7282 and the paintress mark “I.M.” or “W.I.” over a “Pareek, Johnsons Bros” backstamp.
Each bowl measures approximately 23cm long by 12.5cm wide by 3cm high and both are perfect for use or display!
This stunning retro Susie Cooper designed twelve (12) piece coffee can and saucer set was made circa 1969 to 1974 by Wedgwood, who took over the Susie Cooper work shortly before this set was made in 1966. As expected, this set is made from high quality porcelain and is beautifully and colourfully designed with a pattern often called “Dumbells” but also known as “Diablo”. I have not seen another set like it in these stunning range of colours and in absolutely fantastic condition as it has never been used! Totally free from chips, cracks or any restoration work, there are a couple of very minor marks and scratches that are inevitable with the matt finish on this style of glaze (really minor – please see photos).
A lovely retro set that is both practical and collectable! They look superb on display and essential for the Susie Cooper collector!
