A fabulous poster, perfect for the vintage Railwayana collector!
Printed circa 1955, this is a rare and original British Transport Commission poster, originally drawn by A.N. Wolstenholme, who was responsible for many great hand-drawn transport images around this period. Commissioned by the British Transport Commission, this great poster features 21 illustrated British Railways locomotive engines and tenders through out the ages, and up until the time this poster was made.
Measuring approximately 101cm by 144cm, this genuine BTC poster is in very good condition for its age and appears to have never been mounted or displayed, with bright original colours and no major tears or rips. Having been rolled up and stored in the original postal tube it was sent out in in 1955, there are some storage creases, especially at the ends and the top edges, with a tiny slit on one edge. Nothing major or noticeable when flattened out completely.
This poster is currently available as reprint from some stores, but this is an original example that would look amazing framed and on display.
A great rare piece of original vintage Railwayana that is very collectable!
