Always a talking piece! Carlton Ware have been making amazing and interesting pottery for well over 100 years and is still going!
This gorgeous and vibrant orange shaped preserve or marmalade pot is a fabulous example of Carlton Wares quirky style. Made circa the 1930 to the 1960’s, this pot is in great condition for its age with no chips, cracks or restoration work. There are some flecks of paint missing and some staining in the crazing internally (a little on the underside externally), but overall, the hand-painted colours are still bright and lovely! The dish is also in good condition with no chips or cracks but there are a couple of dark spots of staining (please see photos), nothing major and all adding character and age to this lovely pair.
The pot measures approximately 9.5cm high, with the dish measuring 12cm in diameter. Both pieces have clear Carlton Ware backstamps. The backstamp on the pot dates between the 1920’s to the 1960’s and the dish (which bears the Carlton Ware Australian Design stamp) dates between 1935 and 1961.
A lovely addition to any Carlton Ware collection that is great for display or everyday use (if you fancy!).
