A great little car for the tin-plate toy collector!
This very cool and very retro tin-plate car is in a classic and period correct baby blue colour with contrasting white-walled tyres!
Based on a 1954 Pontiac Chieftain, this “Minster Delux” model is externally in very good to excellent condition for its age with some minor marks to the coachwork and the typical oxidation of the chrome parts. The friction motor needs attention. It works and engages when the cogs a correctly aligned – an easy fix I think (just open the body and secure the cogs).
Made in Delhi, India circa the 1970’s by the “Martoy” toy company from tin-plate sheets, some of which recycled from fruit and food tins (see photo of inner wheel).
Measuring a large 25cm long by 12cm high and 8.5cm wide (approximately), this is a lovely retro toy and would look great on display in any vintage and retro tin toy collection!
