A rare design and gorgeous little dish for the lover of vintage Carlton Ware! Made circa 1935 to 1951, this is a stunning Deco design that is part of the Hand-Painted Australian Design series of Carlton Ware made during this period.
With a beautiful “Forget-Me-Not” flower relief pattern that appears to have just been placed on the edge of this quite plain octagonal dish. Hand-painted in lovely bright colours that are typical of the period and in very good to excellent condition. The dish is free from any cracks but does have a restored chip to one edge at the bottom of the pattern (please see photos) and some tiny nibbles and factory flaws mainly around the edges. You would hardly notice them and it still displays beautifully!
Marked clearly underneath with the “Carlton Ware” backstamp and the “Australian Design Patent Applied For” mark, both of which place this lovely piece firmly within the 1935 to 1951 period.
This gorgeous dish measures approximately 12cm (at its widest point with the relief pattern), by 11.5cm wide by 2.5cm deep, and is a lovely Art Deco dish that is hard-to-find and would make a stunning addition to any Art Deco Carlton Ware collection, or would be fabulous for the lover of horticultural inspired pottery.
